Jeff Thomas, executive director at Life Care Center of Altamonte Springs, Florida, was presented with its parent company’s Chairman’s Award, the highest award an associate can receive, on Aug. 27, 2018.
The presentation took place during Life Care Centers of America’s annual awards banquet, held at the corporate offices in Cleveland, Tennessee. Forrest Preston, chairman and founder of Life Care, and Beecher Hunter, Life Care president, presented Thomas with a crystal obelisk commemorating the award.
“Jeff Thomas is extraordinarily gifted for leadership in health care,” said Hunter. “His calm demeanor, his decision-making ability, his desire to continue honing his professional skills are all characteristics that set him apart. But his best quality is his heart for people and their wellbeing.”
A Life Care associate for 16 years, Thomas has served as field controller, division controller and regional vice president in addition to his current role. At the Altamonte Springs facility, he has helped the building maintain at least a four-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid and consistently positive customer service survey results.
Thomas was especially praised for fostering a strong sense of camaraderie and appreciation among his staff and for his substantial efforts at remodeling the facility.
“Not only does he make sure the patients come first, but the associates also come first,” said Janet Sorel, Southeast Division vice president, who oversees the company’s Florida facilities.
“It has been an absolute privilege to serve the residents, associates and community in many different capacities with Life Care throughout the years,” said Thomas. “While the ever-changing landscape of health care can be challenging at times, it’s been comforting to serve a company that has always placed the residents as our highest priority. Receiving the Chairman’s Award is a great honor and a major highlight in my career. I look forward to being able to support my awesome team at Life Care Center of Altamonte Springs for many years to come.”
The Chairman’s Award is presented annually to the leader of an overall successful facility or organization whose outstanding performance demands recognition.
